Curtis Wilson "C.W." Roberts Sr., 76, of Ashton died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at his home.

Curtis was born Dec. 2, 1933, at Wheatland, Wyo., to Theodore and Rose (Skoglund) Roberts.

Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia.

Survivors are: sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Wilson and Kathy (Moraczewski) Roberts of Lincoln, Craig Eugene Roberts of Des Moines, Iowa, Lester Neil and Vanessa (Moore) Roberts of Sumter, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa (Terri) Evelyn and Delbert Griffiths of Broken Bow; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Kay Roberts of Neligh and Brian and Shirley Roberts of Chadron; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Loice Bartlett of Chadron, Delores and Ward Millar of Rapid City, S.D., and Patty Bruce of Newark, Ohio.

Curtis was also preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Ethan Condon; brother, Douglas Roberts and infant brothers, Steven and Chester Roberts.

Curtis grew up in Chadron and attended school at Chadron Prep School.

He married his high school sweetheart Virginia Taylor on April 13, 1952, in Chadron. Throughout their married life they lived in Chadron, Page, Ewing, Broken Bow and in 1969 moved to Ashton. He owned and operated Ashton Locker Service in Ashton and House of Meats in Loup City. He also owned and operated Roberts Services which specialized in refrigeration and appliance repair.

He enjoyed fishing and especially the time he was able to spend with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
