Mollie Thon was born Dec. 21, 1871 at Prairie du chien, Wisconsin to Sven and Torand Thon, both of whom were born in Norway. She was one of eight children of whom only a sister, Mrs. A. O. Miller of Cottonwood, Minnesota now survives. The father had been a soldier stationed in Denmark to guard against German aggression. In 1866 he moved his family to America by sailing packet on which voyage the surviving sister was born. They settled in Dane county, Wisconsin where Mollie was born. The family moved west by ox team into Minnesota and settled in what is now Lyon county. There Mollie grew to womanhood. On Dec 22, 1898 shw was united in marriage to Rasmus R. Ueland. To them five children were born: Sylvester of Fontana, California; Theodore and Kermit of Antleope; Rudolph of Portland, Oregon; and Mrs. Kenneth Nicholson, Sheridan, Wyoming. In 1907 the family came to Montana and homestaded on the land where Antelope is now located. Mollie was very active in establishing a church and ladies aid. Her husband died in 1944.
