Rebecca Ann "Becky" Bryant Whitson

Rebecca Ann "Becky" (Bryant) Whitson
, 56, Sunset Lake and Bowring longtime resident passed away 2:25 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, at the family residence.

Becky (Bryant) Whitson was a tomboy who ran barefoot through the Kansas wheat fields as a child and was the second daughter of Amos and Stella Bryant. Born in Goessel, Kansas on June 28, 1952.

Becky was a loving mother and grandmother who brought joy to everyone who knew her.

Sadly, she died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from complications of cancer at the age of 56.

Becky was one of those rare individuals who was beautiful inside and out. She was passionate about life, living it to its fullest and never doing anything half way. She never accomplished great things as thought of in this world today, but touched the lives of her family and friends in only the way that great people can.

Her grandchildren were the love of her life and her greatest joy was spending time with them. She did not take friendship "lightly"; her friendships were for life and she was an individual who everybody liked right away. You could always depend on Becky being there when you needed her, sometimes when you didn't even know you needed her. She was very outgoing and loved a good laugh.

She cherished the outdoors and enjoyed anything outside, especially fishing. She was a great lover of animals, sometimes to a fault; many a stray has found comfort at her doorstep.

She received her early education in Kansas before moving to Osage County in the early sixties. She was graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1971 and was football queen that same year.

After graduation, she moved to Tulsa and gave English equestrian lessons until she met Myron Cloke, a Topeka boy there for the summer.

They were married in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1971 moving to Tulsa in 1972. In 1979, they moved to Sunset Lake where they raised three daughters; Summer Gail, Jennifer Megan and Tatum Ferrell Ann.

Becky was very active with the Bowring School and with her community. She played softball for many years on both women's and co-ed teams.

Becky was never idle and worked several jobs during her lifetime: Tulsa County Court House, Shay's Landscaping, Rolling Hills Apartments, London House Apartments, Phillips Petroleum Co. and for Osage Hills State Park where she worked until she lost her battle with cancer.

Becky was briefly married to Darrel Whitson of Bartlesville.

Becky leaves a void in this world that can not be filled by another. Her family and friends will grievously miss her all the rest of their days.

Surviving are her three daughters, Summer and Jimmy Hambright of Riverton, Kansas ; Megan Cloke of Bartlesville and Tatum and Nick Middleton of Colorado Springs, Colorado.; grandchildren, Ethan and Will Shawver of Riverton, Kansas , Jimmre and Matthew Hambright and Josh and Elijah Pearce of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Chastain and Justice Cloke of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her beloved brother, Max Bryant and his wife Amanda of Wichita, Kansas; and sisters, Elizabeth Kilbourn and Debra Davis, of Hutchinson, KS, Marcy and Bobby Cossey of Houston, Texas and Sissy and Gary Potter of Arkansas City, Kansas; as well as a brother-in-law, Frank Hidvegi of Wichita, Kansas; 6 nieces; 6 nephews; 5 great-nieces and 8 great-nephews who will miss her very much.

Preceding her in death were her father, Amos Bryant; mother, Stella Parker; step-father, Henry Parker; and sister, Loretta Hidvegi.

Funeral services for Ms. Whitson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4811 S. E. Nowata Road, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Becky's friend, Pastor Cork Walden will be the officiant.

Committal prayers and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, in the Walters Cemetery, Walters, Oklahoma by The Arnold Moore Funeral Service.

Ms. Whitson will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of The Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where friends may call for their visitation until she is removed to the church for services.
