A newspaper clipping reads: Reason Dye died at his home, north of this place, very suddenly Wednesday evening last. He had eaten a very hearty supper & seemed in his usual health. After supper he went out on the porch & in a few minutes later his groans attracted the attention of his family, who found him on the ground bleeding from a wound on the head. He had fallen from the porch a distance of 4 ft., but whether simply an accident or from apoplexy will probably never be known.
Mr. Dye was an old citizen, much respected. He had accumulated a good property. He leaves a wife & several children. The funeral took place at the U.B.Church, Sunday, Mar.12, Rev. Fothergill preached an excellent sermon.
Mr. Dye was born in Greene County Pennsylvania, in 1808. He came to this State in 1868.
He leaves a large family; 1 daughter resides in New York; 1 daughter & 2 sons-in-law in Nebraska; 1 son in Illinois; 8 daughters & 4 sons in this County.
Mr.Dye was a kind & obliging neighbor. He leaves many friends, who sympathize with his family in their sad bereavement.
