A resident of Denham Springs, he died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 72 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Fay Noble Ashley; three daughters and two sons-in-law. Sharon Martin, Judy Ashley-Gale and Sidney Gale, and Jo Anne and Sidney Bowers; two sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel and Darlene Ashley and Jimmy and Lu Ann Ashley; two brothers, Rufus Ashley and Edwin Ashley; 14 children, five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a foster granddaughter; two foster great-granddaughters; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephew. Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Nellie Musson Ashley; and two brothers, Fred and Vernon Ashley.
