Rufus Printz, of Washington, DC. s/o the late John D. Printz of Stony Man died on Saturday 24 Mar 1924 [this date is on a Monday, so DOD is 22 Mar 1924] at the George Washington, Hospital, Washington, DC. where he was taken for an operation about 2 weeks ago. He was 53 years old, began to fail in health rapidly last fall, his trouble being of a malignant internal nature. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Richardson of Lynchburg & the following brothers & sisters, John L. Printz, Miss Ida Printz & L. L. Printz of Stony Man, Herbert I. Printz of Worcester, MA., George Printz & Mrs. Paul Stewart of Monongahela, Pa. & Mrs. Walter Schuyler of Preston, Cuba. Mr. Printz left this county when he was 17 years & has lived out of the county ever since, being employed in various capacities in Washington & vicinity. For many years he had charge of a farm at Dun Loring, Va. He was at the home of his sister, Miss Ida & brother, L. L. Printz near Stony Man for 5 weeks before going to the hospital, it being hoped that he would regain his former vigorous health by a period of rest. On the contrary his condition grew steadily worse. The body arrived here on Train 1 this morning accompanied by Vernon M. Stirewalt who went to Washington for the purpose. The funeral will be held at the home at 1 p. m. today there being a short service in the Printz burial ground by Rev. C. I. Morgan of the Lutheran Church of which denomination Mr. Printz was a member. Many old friends & comrades will regret to hear of his death.
