Large Funeral of Arthur Williams

At one of the largest funerals held in Banff for some time, the remains of the late Arthur Williams were laid to rest in the Banff cemetery last Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. Canon H. Tully Montgomery officiating.

The many beautiful floral wreaths and sprays and the large attendance at the service, paid silent tribute to the popularity of the deceased. Pallbearers were Bill Marsh, Reg Harris, Charles Fullbrook, Harry Smith, Horace Reeves and Dewey Black.

The Banff Fire Department attended the service in a body.

The late Mr. Williams, second son of Mrs. and Mrs. Percy Williams, was born in England and came to Canada with his parents when two years old, and was thirty-two years of age at the time of his death. He was well known in the field of sports and excelled skiing, having competed successfully in ski tournaments held in different parts of the country.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow Elizabeth, one daughter Beverly, and a son Gary, his father and mother, three sisters, Mrs. C.R. Shaw and Mrs. Reg Harris of Banff, and Mrs. J.E. Stenton of Edmonton, one brother Nelson Williams also of Banff.

A brother David, the youngest of the family, made the supreme sacrifice in the service of his country in December 1942, in action over Germany, while serving with the air force.
