Marriage
V.E. Manning and Miss Ruth Nevers motored to Gulfport last Saturday evening, and were quietly married by Rev. J.H. McCardle.
They left on the 8 o'clock train for Mobile where they spent a few days, returning to Lyman Monday evening, where they will make their home.
The many friends of the happy couple wish them a long and prosperous and happy life.

LUMBERTON MAN RITES ARE HELD
Funeral services were conducted in Lumberton on Wednesday of last week for Van E. Manning, Sr., 51, merchant, who died at the family home after an illness of several months.
Services were held at the Lumberton Methodist church with the Rev. Fred L. Applewhite, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Lumberton cemetery.
Mr. Manning was a native of Jackson county. He was married almost 25 years ago to Miss Nevers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Nevers of Bogalusa, La. He went to Lumberton about 21 years ago to operate a meat market. For a number of years he operated his own market and grocery store.
He was a member of the Methodist church and a member of the board of trustees of the Lumberton Consolidated School District.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Miss Rebecca Manning and Miss Barbara Manning, of Lumberton; one son, Van E. Manning, Jr., a student at Mississippi State College; three brothers, James Manning, of Satsuma, Ala., Frank Manning, Columbia, and C. A. Manning, Picayune; and two sister, Mrs. Robert J. Bell, Bogalusa, La., and Mrs. S. E. Pell, of Biloxi.
