Friday, April 17, 1953Page 41Allen Reid Dies in Atlanta; Was with Tom HustonAtlanta, April 16 – Allen Reid Sr., 59, an organizer of the Gordon Foods Co. in Atlanta and formerly connected with the Tom Huston Peanut Co. in Columbus, died in a hospital here last night following a heart attack.Reid had been sales manager of the Gordon firm since he helped in its organization 15 years ago.Born at Ellaville, he lived in Columbus a number of years while working with the Tom Huston firm.Survivors include his wife, a son, Allen Reid, Jr., five sisters, Mrs. W. A. Childers of Griffin; Mrs. Lester Dykes of Andersonville; Mrs. Lewis Wall of Thomasville; Mrs. E. A. Blythe of Columbus and Mrs. Council Bass of Americus; two brothers, Jack Reid of Ellaville and J.R. Reid of Winston Salem, N.C.
