Claude J. Morris, retired farmer, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1975 at Greater Community hospital, in Creston where he had been a patient for two weeks. Mr. Morris was 76 years of age.

Claude James Morris, the son of Ezekiel H. Morris and Myrtle Shively Morris, was born December 7, 1898. He was united in marriage to Helen Elizabeth Butler Mar. 18, 1920. Mrs. Morris passed away Jan. 12, 1973.

Survivors include 3 sons, Kenneth of Clearfield, Robert of Lenox and Hal Dean of Kent; one daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Marjorie) Reynolds of Lenox and 3 sisters, Mrs. George Anderson of San Diego, California; Mrs. Henry Weller of Truro, Iowa, and Mrs. Edward Bricker of Miami, Ariz.

Twelve grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren plus a host of friends survive.

Funeral services will be held, today (Thursday) Sept. 25th at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Floyd Newbrough officiating.

Bearers will be Lewis Morris, Monty Morris, Paul Morris, Chris Evans, James Comes and Stuart Kolosick.

Honorary bearers are Todd Morris, James Louden, Larry Sweeney, Hugh Vogel and Terry Brown.

Music will be furnished by Norma Paymal, organist and Billie Jean Barker and Marilyn Beck, vocalists.

Burial will be in West Fairview cemetery.

There will be a memorial fund established.

Morris, Claude James - Claude James Morris, 76, a long-time resident of the Lenox community, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 23 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston.

Claude, son of Myrtle (Shively) Morris and Ezekiel H. Morris, was born December 7, 1898 on a farm near Kent in Union County.

On March 18, 1920 he was united in marriage to Helen Elizabeth Butler of Lenox. To this union four children were born.

Their early years were spent together on farms in Adam and Union counties. In March of 1933 they moved to their present farm, north of Lenox. Claude entered the Creston Manor nursing home in the fall of 1973 where he resided until he entered the Greater Community hospital September 11, 1975.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church; retired farmer and charter member of the N.F.O., and had several terms as a supervisor of Adams County.

His family and friends were very dear to him, and he was happiest when he was busy and doing things for others. He was appreciative and thankful for the many kindnesses and courtesies extended to him. This was especially so during the last years.

Proceeding him in death were his dear wife, Helen; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Morris, a sister, Hazel, and two great grandsons, Thadeous Louden and Aaron Jay Morris.

Left to cherish memories are his daughter, Marjorie Reynolds and husband, Darrell of Lenox, three sons, Kenneth and wife, Helen Jean of Clearfield, Hal Dean and wife, Pat of Kent, Robert and wife Verna of Lenox, 12 grandchildren, Lewis Morris, Connie Comes, Kathie Kolosick, Susan Loudon, Nancy Brown, Peggy Sweeney, Monty Morris, Paul Morris, Janie Vogel, Angel Evans, Joni Morris and Todd Morris. Eight great grandchildren, Holly Sue Sweeney, Brent Jason Morris, Christopher Robert Evans, Betsy Jolene Sweeney, Chad Jason Comes, Kelli Renae Kolosick, Brandon Morris Brown and Alexa Marie Louden, 3 sisters, Neva Anderson and husband George of San Diego, Balke Weller and husband Henry of Truro, Benita Bricker and husband Edward of Miami, Arizona and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted at the United Methodist Church Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Rev. Floyd Newbrough officiating.

Music was furnished by Billie Jean Barker, Marilyn Beck and Norma Paymal.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and grandsons-in-law; the bearers were Lewis Morris of Lenox, Monty Morris and Paul Morris of Kent, Stuart Kolosick of Washington, West Virginia, James Comes of Atlantic and Chris Evans of Lenox. Honorary bearers were Todd Morris of Clearfield, James Loudon of Creston, Terry Brown of Jefferson, Larry Sweeney of Creston and Hugh Vogel of Lenox.

Interment was in the West Fairview cemetery at Lenox.

There has been a Memorial established for the Blank Memorial Newborn Infant Care Unit in Des1 Moines.
