Lenox Time Table, Lenox, Iowa Wednesday May 21, 1986
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 14, at the Lenox United Methodist Church for Kenneth Edwin Morris, 65. Mr. Morris died May 11 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines.

The Rev. Lester Hesseltine officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Pallbearers were Bill Larson, Randy Trost, Jim Parrish, Danny Purdum, Jack Fehring and Steve Sweeney.

Honorary pallbearers were Don Keast, Mike Trost, Bob Parrish, Raymond Trost, Dave Christensen, Leroy Blessman, Raymond Purdum and Lonnie Barker.

Mr. Morris was born Feb. 14, 1921, eldest son of Claude and Helen Butler Morris, on a farm near Kent. He was reared in the Kent and Lenox areas and began school in Kent. He attended country school through grade 8 in Adams County, and was graduated in 1938 from Lenox High School.

He joined the Methodist church early in life and had been a member of the Stringtown, Clearfield and Lenox churches. He was a past master of Noble Lodge No. 458.

On Valentine's Day in 1942, his 21st birthday, Mr. Morris and Helen Jean Robinson were married in Maryville, Mo. They had been married 44 years, and had celebrated their 40th anniversary in 1982 with family and friends.

Mr. Morris had farmed all his life, first on a farm near Stringtown from 1942 until 1952, then near Clearfield for 35 years, where he was farming at the time of his death. He and Mrs. Morris had moved to the present home in Lenox in 1978.

Mr. Morris loved hard work and farming, and could accomplish more in a day than many people. He especially liked harvest time and running a combine. He always worked hard right up to "quittin time," and had said he loved the smell of "that black dirt."

He was a good neighbor and great friend who loved his grandchildren and was a great teaser. His grandchildren adored his attention, candy, pickup truck rides and being on his farm.

Mitch Hargin, a neighbor in Clearfield, was very close to Mr. Morris and his family and spent a great deal of time in the Morris home. Jack Fehring of Lenox was like a son to Mr. Morris, and was a very special friend who did many extra things for the Morris family.

Mr. Morris leaves his wife, Helen Jean of the home in Lenox; two sons, Lewis and wife, Becky, Lenox, and Todd of Maryville, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy and husband, Terry, Jefferson, and Janie and husband, Mike, Lenox; nine grandchildren, Brent, Derek and Ryan Morris, Brandon, Dominic, Tristan and Rhett Brown, and Megan and Ashley Bengard.

He is also survived by two brothers, Hal Dean of Kent and Robert of Lenox, and a sister, Marjorie Reynolds of Lenox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant grandson, Aaron Jay Morris.
