JOHN PEIRCE DIES SUDDENLY ON FRIDAY
Another of Claresholm's pioneer settlers passed away on Friday of last week, Jan 9th in the person of John Peirce. In December he suffered bruises and shock when the car he was riding home from Vulcan missed the turn in the road on account of a fog. He seemed to be making satisfactory recovery, but on Thursday night developed a serious heart condition which brought his end in death Friday morning.

Deceased was born Jan 28th 1868 at Brigham City, Utah. His marriage to Alice Howarth too place on July 1 1893 when he made his home at Chesterfield, Idaho. Three years later home was moved to Dubois, and later to Spencer and from there to May, Idaho. In 1907 the family moved to Claresholm, taking up farming at the south-east corner of the town, and for many years engaging in the dairy business serving the town of Claresholm.

Mr Peirce was pre-deceased by his wife in 1936. Surviving are three sons:
Milton in Calgary
John in Edmonton
Andrew in Calgary
and one daughter,
Mrs Mary Remington in Claresholm.

Another daughter, Mrs G.S. Scaman, died also in 1936

A half-brother, Charles David, resides at Logan, Utah.
