Coulson, Donald Wallace, 81, of Greene, N.Y., formerly of Wichita, former Coleman Co. manufacturing manager and retired McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas Air National Guard 127th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron commander, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001. Service 12 p.m. Thursday, Wichita Park Cemetery.

Preceded in death by wife, Verdenia "Pegge" Coulson; parents, Eldon Jay and Anna Mariah Coulson; brothers, Eldon Eugene Coulson, Maurice Russell Coulson; sister, Merle Wilma Coulson.

Survivors: sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen of Manhattan, Ronald and Patricia of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter, Diann Coulson of Albuquerque; grandchi ldren, Bret and Derek Coulson of Raleigh, N.C. Memorial established with Pegge Coulson Memorial Scholarship Fund in c/o Greene Central School, Greene, N.Y. Root Funeral Home, Greene, N.Y.

Donald W. Coulson, 81, of Greene, N.Y., died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001.

He was born in Wichita on July 17, 1919, the son of Eldon J. and Anne (Shaup) Coulson. He graduated from Wichita North High School in 1937.

He lived in Manhattan from 1939 to 1941 and from 1945 to 1947, graduating from Kansas State University with a B.S. in mechanical engineering.

During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot trainer and in the Aleutian Islands theater of operations. He was manager of manufacturing at the Coleman Co., Wichita, until 1961 and was commander of the Kansas Air National Guard's 127th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at McConnell AFB Wichita until 1961.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen Coulson of Manhattan and Ronald Coulson and his wife Patricia of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter Diann Coulson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and grandsons, Bret and Derek Coulson, both of Raleigh, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verdania "Pegge" Coulson; parents Eldon Jay Coulson and Anna Mariah Coulson; brothers Eldon Eugene Coulson and Maurice Russell Coulson; and a sister, Merle Wilma Coulson.

Graveside services will be at noon Thursday, Wichita Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Pegge Coulson Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Greene Central School, Greene, N.Y. 13778. Root Funeral Home of Greene, N.Y., is in charge of arrangements.
