Mr. Phillip E. Parrish, 44, of Lake City, died Thursday morning, March 18, 2010 in the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Columbia County, Mr. Parrish was a graduate of Columbia High School and the Lake City Community College Corrections Training Academy. He worked for the Occidental Chemical Company as an acid plant operator for many years. He then began his career with the Florida Department of Corrections working at Columbia Correctional for eight years prior to his ill health forcing him to retire. Mr. Parrish enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his father, William H. Parrish and brothers, Kenneth Parrish and Billy Joe Parrish.
Mr. Parrish is survived by his son, Phillip Jordan "P.J." Parrish; his mother, Novice Parrish; sisters, Linda Gail Morrell & Shirley Ann Mirra all of Lake City and a brother, Bobby Lane Parrish of Fort White, Florida.

Funeral services for Mr. Parrish will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 21, 2010 in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Rev. James Roberts and Bro. George Moultrie officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
