Amboy newspaper; Mrs. Gertrude Carpenter 87, Mendota, a former Amboy resident died Tues. night in a Plano nursing home. The former Gertrude Fessenden she was married to George Carpenter in 1896 at Amboy. Her husband died in 1961.He was a former publisher in Amboy and a former state legislator. They moved to Mendota a few years ago. Surv. include three sons; Ralph of Chicago, Lee of Plano and Nelson with whom she made her home in Mendota. also three grch. Funeral services have been tentively arranged for 2pm Fri. in the Merritt Funeral Home., Mendota. Burial will be in the Prairie Repose Cem. Amboy.
