Vaughn and Ervin Harmon, who happened to be in Forth Worth at the time. Mr. Vaughn has had three letters from him since he arrived overseas.

"Private David O. Clapp, infantry, Ada, Okla – During the defense of Cantigny, May 28, although wounded several times, stayed with his automatic rifle and assisted in the reconsolidation of his platoon, but after receiving first aid insisted on returning to his post, where he remained, working until forced to evacuate."
