JOHN B. GONSER
John B. Gonser was born January 1, 1815, in Tuscarawas Co. Ohio. His father was David Gonser (June 31 1790-April 26, 1856) and his mother was Catherine Miller (September 18, 1795-January 17, 1879). Both parents are buried in Fairfield Center Cemetery, DeKalb Co., Indiana. John's father was drafted into the U.S. service and served as a soldier in the War of 1812 against Great Britain.
John Gonser lived his early childhood in Ohio and was united in marriage to Catherine Devore on the 9th of April 1835 in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio.
They were the parents of four children: 1) Samuel (1836-????) born in Ohio; 2) Eve (1838-????) born in Ohio; 3) Lucinda (1841-1924) born in Ohio; 40 Jemima (1848-1889) born in DeKalb Co., Indiana.
The family moved from DeKalb Co., Indiana to Ft. Dodge, Iowa in 1848 and then to Mills Co. in 1858. The purchase of 10 acres of land is recorded in Mills Co, Iowa in April 25, 1864.
John farmed in Mills Co. until his death at the age of 67 years 5 months and 8 days. He died 8 October 1882 and is buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
