The funeral for Clayburn Phillip "Clay" Hooie, 61, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Spry Funeral Home with Barry Hooie and Boyd Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
Mr. Hooie died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at home. He was born February 12, 1949, in Gadsden, AL. He retired from Steelcase. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. Hooie and Betty Ball Hooie.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Hooie of Athens; sons, Jay Hooie and wife Leigha, Sean Hooie and wife Jennifer, and Patrick Hooie, all of Athens; daughter, Summer Chance and husband Matthew of Athens; stepson, Tim Hopper of Athens; stepdaughter, Tiffany Morris and husband Steve of Kerrville, TX; brother, Barry Hooie and wife Margie of Athens; grandchildren, Hayden Chance, Sawyer Chance, Loron Hooie, Luke Hooie, Raina Hooie, Reilly Hooie and Lawson Hooie.
