Raymond comes from a long line of pioneers and settlers who helped to shape this country, stretching back to one John Dodds who was one of the original settlers at Jamestown Virginia in 1607. Raymond was one of the many men who helped build the Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River, and during WWII he worked in the shipyards as a welder in Richmond California, where he met his future wife Judy, who was also working as a welder. He was unable to serve in the military due to heart problems. He died at the age of 41 from a massive heart attack.
