He died on Monday, March 15, 2010 in Post. He was born on Oct. 28, 1919 in Mosspoint, Miss. to Samuel and Pearl Bilbo. He married Betty Stevens on Aug.12, 1949 in Ruidoso, N.M. She preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 1979. He later married Pat Rogers on Aug. 4, 1979. He was a farmer and an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He served as a member of the Post Independent School District Board. He was also an active golfer and was a member of the Lakeridge Senior Men's Golf Association.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operation on various ships.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Bilbo of Post; three sons, Joe and wife Vickie Bilbo of Quinlan, Texas, Gary Bilbo of Dilly, Texas and Ronnie and wife Kelli Bilbo of Lubbock; one daughter, Jan and husband Doyle Nichols of San Angelo; one stepson, Johnny and wife Jamie McCowan of Austin; two stepdaughters, Nancy and husband Dennis McDonald of Post and Patty and husband Jerry Pruitt of Lubbock; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 7 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
