LOS ANGELES - Caroline Wright Snow Oka, 29, died Friday at 1 a.m. in Los Angles of a diabetic coma, following the birth of a son, Eugene Snow Oka, who died Wednesday.
Mrs. Oka, a poetess, was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of Lucy Wright and Arthur E. Snow. Mrs. Oka was a granddaughter of Erastus Snow, Utah Pioneer. She lived in Michigan during her childhood and young womanhood, and came to Salt Lake City with her parents in 1934. At that time she attended the L D S Business college. At the time of her death, she was a secretary in Los Angeles.
A talented writer, Mrs. Oka had produced many poems. She was married to Harley M. Oka in Los Angeles June 2, 1944.
While living in Salt Lake City, she served as home missionary in Ensign stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, completing a two year mission, in 1938. She was serving as a home missionary in the Los Angeles L D S stake at the time of her death.
Mrs. Oka is survived by her husband, Los Angeles; her father and sister, Rebecca W. Snow, Salt Lake City, and two brothers, Arthur L. and Jonathan W. Snow, Detroit, Mich.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:30 p.m. at 260 E. South Temple, with Levi Edgar Young, senior president, First Counselor of Seventy, LDS church as speaker. Burial will be in Salt Lake City cemetery.
