Anthony James “Hook” Hooker, 42, died at 11:40 p.m. March 12, 2010, in an automobile accident in Columbus.

He was born Aug. 28, 1967, in Tacoma, Wash., to Tom and Joyce Shaw Hooker, who survive in Lima. His former wife, Laura Olszewski Hooker, survives in Hilliard.

Mr. Hooker was a 1985 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School where he played varsity baseball. He played Lima Midget League football for the Hornets. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, although he more recently attended St. Brendan Catholic Church. He was coach of his daughter Bridget’s St. Brendan Dolphins fourth-grade basketball team. He enjoyed playing softball, fishing and spending time outdoors. He was an avid Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions football fan and an avid fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets. For many years, he was employed by Simpson Stronglie. He had formerly been employed at Shawnee Country Club and Columbus Country Club.

Survivors also include a daughter, Bridget (Daddy’s little girl) Hooker, of Hilliard; many aunts and uncles; a special niece, Ashley Wellman; a special nephew, Gage Henderson; a sister, Sherry Wellman, of Lima; and special friends, Tony Stapleton, Greg Stumbaugh and Joel Diehl.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Joseph Sekere will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
