Madison - Lyle J. Brown, age 76, died on Friday, January 19, 2001, at home. He was born on July 12, 1924, the son of James and Katherine (Handel) Brown. He retired from Oscar Mayer's after 34 years of employment. He always had a twinkle in his eye and loved to tell jokes. Lyle enjoyed fixing lawn mowers, snow blowers and bikes and also liked to play euchre, and throw dice. He is survived his wife of 44 years, Nancy (Baker) Brown; his children, Todd Brown, Julie Brown, Kelly Brown, Rick (Diane) Brown, Richard (Vicki) Brown, Roger (Pat) Brown, Jan (Bob) Kapral, Jean (Roger) Hopp, and Robert (Donna Brown); a daughter-in-law, Peggy Brown; a step-daughter, Laura (Ross) Beckett; many grandchildren; and sisters, Lavina Stiegman, Louise (Lloyd) Wolling, and Eleanor Gates. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Brown and a granddaughter, Carrie Brown; his parents, and brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, at noon on Monday, January 22, 2001 with Chaplain Gaylor Nelson presiding. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. The family would like a special thank you to go to HospiceCare and especially Phil Creanza (RN) and Carol White (volunteer).
