The funeral of Mrs. Lemuel J. Westbrook, who died Thursday afternoon at 2:20 o'clock, at her home, No. 348 East Main Street, aged 49 years, of catarrh of the stomach, took place from the house Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. H. Newton Miller officiating. Burial at Cedar Hill.
Miss Alice Beckham was the daughter of the late Wm. Beckham of Fallsbury Township. In 1887 she was united in marriage to Mr. Lemuel J. Westbrook, the East Main Street grocer, making Newark their home. Three children were born to them, Nary B., Guy J., and Inez G., aged 14, 12 and 10 years respectively. For the past six months Mrs. Westbrook has been in poor health, suffering at first from the effects of vaccination, which finally developed into stomach trouble, death touching her heart Thursday.
Besides a husband and the children mentioned, she leaves six step-sons and daughters: Elza E., James L., Amzi A., Franklin L. and Wm. E. Westbrook and Mrs. Vertie Klecker, and seven sisters: Mrs. Jas. Larder, Mrs. Mary Ratten of West Carlisle, Mrs. James Crawford, Mrs. Emma Varner of Perryton, Mrs. Ed. Johns of Leon Iowa, Mrs. Eliza Johns and Mrs. Effie Marriott of this city and one brother, Wm. Beckham of Perryton.
