Esther began a teaching career in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She taught first grade in L'Anse from at least 1938 to 1943. She received her B.S. from Northern Michigan University in 1941 and M.A. from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, in 1952. During WWII she was in the Womens Army Corps, Aviation Cadet. Afterwards she taught in the Antioch, Illinois area, and then relocated to Riverside, California with her husband and two sons.
Her ashes are interred at her husband David's burial site.
