Funeral services were held at the Dick's Creek Baptist Church at two p.m. Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Robert Parris and Rev. Ralph Bradley officiated. Burial was in the Dick's Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Stiles was a life-long resident of Jackson County.
He was born December 25, 1868, and was married to Candis Rogers July 25, 1896. She has been dead since June 2, 1938. He was a member of the Dick's Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by ten children. Mrs. Bonnie Stiles, Mrs. Hester Robinson of Dillsboro, Mrs. Fannie Barnes and Mrs. Effie Robinson of Sylva; Mrs. Maleta Wiggins of Bryson City, Evelyn, Nora Belle and Grady Stiles of Dick's Creek. Orville Stiles of Wilmont; and Pvt. Howard Stiles of the U.S. Army serving somewhere in France.
