John L. Braun, 49, of 3822 Downing Way, died Thursday [December 20, 1979] at Jewish Hospital after an operation. He was the owner of Highland Optical Co., a native of Jefferson County, a Korean War veteran and a member of Opticians Association of America, American Legion Highland Post #201, and Highland Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, the former Chris Burke; a daughter, Miss Cindy Braun; and his mother, Mrs. Mary Miners [s/b Meiners] Braun. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Kidney Foundation.
