GEORGE H. ABELL SR., 59, of 1739 Lincoln Ave., died Saturday at his home. He was a native of Marion County, a retired truck mechanic for Tucker Freight Lines, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Robert E. Newman Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah Spalding; five sons, Damian F., George H. Jr., William S., Joseph A. and Vincent L. Abell; 10 daughters, Mrs. Martha Osborne of Jackson, Tenn., Mrs. Mary Burke Northcraft, Mrs. Sally Williams, Mrs. Julia Ann Berger and the Misses Donna M., Theresa M., Carolyn S., Rita J., Laura E. and Joyce L. Abell; and eight grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3929 Poplar Level Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at Bosse Funeral Home, Barret and Ellison avenues, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Louisville Lung Association or the Mass of the Air. (abstracted by Dolores Bohn)
