William "Bud" Belcher, 87, a retired blacksmith and native of this county, died Monday in Lawrence county General Hospital in Ironton, OH, where he had been a patient since suffering a stroke four weeks earlier. Deceased was born at East Fork, this county, Dec 16, 1855, a son of Isaac and Elizabeth Riffe Belcher. Mr. Belcher had lived at the mouth of Catt, the mouth of Blaine and on Bells Trace, moving to Lawrence county, OH about 2 years ago. He was a blacksmith by trade and also engaged in the saw mill business. Funeral was conducted Thursday in the Ice Creek Baptist Church at Deering, OH and interment was made in the Woodland Cemetery at Ironton. He is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. T. J. Dean, Coal Grove, OH, Mrs. W. D. Chadwick, Cadmus, KY, Mrs. F. B. Keller, Akron, OH and Mrs. Ben Hawes, route 1, Ironton, OH, and by one son, John R. Belcher, South Point, OH and a brother, Isaac A. Belcher, Ironton, OH. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Neal Belcher, died 11 years ago. Big Sandy News, Dec 3, 1943
