GREENSBORO, NC — Mr. Carney W. Allgood Sr, 84, of Greensboro, died on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services were held 11 am, Monday, March 15, 2010, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
Born in Forsyth County to the late John and Bessie Allgood Sr., Carney was a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church.
He retired from A T & T, previously known as Western Electric.
Carney was an avid NASCAR fan and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, Carney was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Helen W. Allgood, who passed away just this past February 26, 2010, and his brother, J. D. Allgood Jr.
Surviving include his children, Geraldine Harrell (Charles) of Charlotte, Carney W. "Butch" Allgood Jr. of Greensboro, and Yvonne Allgood of Charlotte; and a grandson, David Ross.
