Melvin Rose, aged 66, of 1422 Huron Ave., passed away at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Nicholas Hospital following a lingering illness.
Born in Milwaukee on May 8, 1890, he was the son of the late Julius and Emilie Rose. He came to Plymouth in 1912 and was employed at the Plymouth Foundry and Machine Co.
On March 24, 1917, he was united in marriage to Helen Kattre in Plymouth. The couple moved to New Holstein where Mr. Rose was in charge of the brass foundry for the John Lauson Mfg Co. for a period of eight years. In 1925 the family returned to Plymouth where he was employed as foreman at the Plymouth Foundry. From 1943 until June, 1955, the date of his retirement, Mr. Rose was an employee of the Austin Gray Iron Foundry in this city.
Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Harvey and Harold, of Sheboygan; one grandson, William; three brothers, Julius, Victor and Walter, of Milwaukee. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 on Wednesday afternoon at Nickel's Funeral Home with the Rev. E. T. Schmidtke, pastor of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Rockville Cemetery.
