Apple River- Word has been received here of the funeral service for George Hurst, Dubuque, a former resident of this area., who died Saturday in a Dubuque hospital. The service was held Monday at 1 pm at the Egelhof Funeral Home in Dubuque. Burial was in the Highland West Ella Cemetery.
Hurst had farmed in this area until retiring 12 years ago. He was born in Rush Township in 1874, the son of August and Catherine Menzemer Hurst. He married Catherine Seifert. He was a member of the Faith Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Virl, East Dubuque and Roy, Dubuque; one daughter, Arlene, Dubuque; two brothers, Chris and John, both of Warren; and three grandchildren.
