Ernest "Ernie" J. Brausen, a resident of Pierz, died March 10, 2010, at his home in Pierz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Pierz. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz and from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Monday also at the funeral chapel. Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary at 4:30 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel.
Ernest "Ernie" J. Brausen was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Buckman, to the late Matthias and Katherine (Midle) Brausen Jamma. He grew up in the Pierz area working on various farms. Ernie was united in marriage to Ann Ullman June 7, 1958, at St. John's the Evangelist Church in Little Canada. The couple made their home in Frogtown, where they lived until moving to Little Canada and upon retirement made their home in Pierz. Ernie worked various construction jobs and eventually retired from Brings Produce. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, baseball, playing cribbage, poker and dirty clubs.
Ernie is survived by his wife Ann Brausen of Pierz; son Rick (Michele) Brausen of Garrison; daughter Kathy (Ted) DeGraw of Wyoming, Minn.; brother Leonard Brausen of Garrison; sister Delores (Bud) Zyvoloski of Little Falls; brothers-in-law Albert Ullman of Little Canada and James Deyo of Brainerd; grandchildren Nicole (Nolan) Peel, Joshua Semo, Rebecca Brausen; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Helen Bednar, Bobby, Donny and Cliffy Brausen; stepbrothers Richard and Herman Jamma; and granddaughters Annie and Chelsie Brausen.
Pallbearers were Joshua Semo, Bill Deyo, Gary Rothmeyer, Nolan Peel, Tony Stock and Gordon Brausen.
