Clifford "Cliff" Brausen, a resident of Garrison, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Pierz.
Clifford "Cliff" Brausen was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Buckman to the late Mathew and Catherine (Meidel) Brausen Jamma. He grew up in the Pierz area and helped on various farms. Cliff sailed the great lakes in the Merchant Marines. He was united in marriage to Shelby Allord June 25, 1955, in Pierz. The couple moved to St. Paul, where Cliff worked for the Swift Premium meat packing plant, construction, International Harvester and Brings Produce. He enjoyed fishing on Mille Lacs lake, deer hunting, especially with Larry, Gwen and "the boys", and going to the casino.
Cliff is survived by his wife Shelby Brausen of Garrison; children Gordon (Catherine) Brausen of Garrison and Pixie (Gary) Rothmeyer of Hillman; grandchildren, Tony Brausen, Jason Rothmeyer, Katie Brausen and Stephanie (Carlos) Montenegro; great-grandchildren Haylee and Jayda Montenegro; siblings Ernie (Anne) Brausen of Pierz, Delores (Bud) Zyvoloski of Little Falls and Leonard Brausen of Garrison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Helen Bednar, Bobby and Donny Brausen; and step-brothers Richard and Herman Jamma.
Pallbearers were Jason Rothmeyer, Tony Brausen, Rick Brausen, Larry Brausen, Mike Zyvoloski and Jerry Norberg.
