Margaret A. Mahoney Purvis, 76, of Hanover, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

She was born March 16, 1933, in Madison, the daughter of Charles Lucian and Gertrude King Mahoney. She spent her early life in Trimble County, Ky. and the rest of her life in Jefferson County. She was employed for 10 years as a clerk and stock lady with T.G. & Y. Department Store in Madison. She had worked for several years in the cafeteria at Madison Junior High School. From 1971 to 1982 she was the bookkeeper for Bob's Vending Co. She also had been a caregiver to the elderly. She was a member of First Christian Church of Hanover. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafts.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Purvis and Greg Purvis, both of Hanover, and Troy Purvis of Milton, Ky.; her mother, of Hanover; three brothers, the Rev. Monty L. Mahoney and Denver Mahoney, both of Madison, and Larry Mahoney of Lexington; three sisters, Bonnie Tilley and Evelyn Wingham, both of Milton, Ky., and Virginia Manship of Madison; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lindsey "Bob" Purvis, whom she married Dec. 23, 1948, and who died Dec. 20, 2008; one daughter, Linda Purvis, who died in 1949; her father; one brother, Norman Mahoney; and one sister, Mary Ethel Hamilton.

The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial was in Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Ky.
