Lester was a hard-working man who taught all his sons a trade so they could earn a living to support their own families. He was a carpenter, roofer, electrician, plumber, and jack-of-all-trades.
He was a Full-Gospel minister, preaching and using the Gifts of the Spirit to minister to others. He was a gospel singer and served the Lord until the day that he died in a veterans' hospital of cancer.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Church of Life with the Rev. Jim Patillo, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Anson was an Army veteran of World War II. He served as minister for more than 45 years in Nebraska and Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Anson; four daughters, Karen Anson of Lincoln, Neb., Sharon Cook (Kenneth) of Paola, Kan., Margaret Anson of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Anson of Sedalia, Mo.; four sons, Peter Anson (Jeannie) of Sedalia, Timothy Anson of Lincoln, Mark Anson (Dana) of Kansas City, Kan., and Matthew Anson (Kelly) of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Ruby Schulz (Harry)of Lincoln; four brothers, Everett Anson (Elva) of Fair Oak, Calif., Albert Anson (June) of Fremont, Neb., Bob Anson of Lincoln, Neb., and Lavon (Betty) Anson of Tipp City, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lester R. Anson was born to Robert W. (memorial# 49581834) and Eleanor M. (Steir) Anson (memorial# 49582027) on July 7, 1928 in Creston, Nebraska. He departed this life on June 25, 2001 in Amarillo, Texas.

Lester grew up and went to school in Creston, Columbus and Fremont, Nebraska. He served his country in the U.S. Army from March of 1946 to August of 1947. He was stationed in Hiroshima Japan for 7 months and 6 days. He received two medals while serving in the Army.

On June 23, 1951 he was united in marriage to Clara M. Snover of Hooper Nebraska (memorial# 49466810), in the United Methodist Church of Hooper. They were married for 36 years and of this union were born eight children.

Lester accepted Christ as his personal savior and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1954 in Fremont Nebraska. He was a member and helped build Bethel Assembly of God Church in Fremont. From 1956 to 1969 Lester and Clara were traveling evangelists. They made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska until their divorce in 1987. Lester moved to Independence, Missouri to live.

In December of 1989 he was united in marriage to Doris Letourneau in Independence, Mo. The couple moved around a lot and were living in Amarillo Texas at the time of Lester's death. They were married 11 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and Eleanor M (Stier) Anson and a sister, Clara Mattley.

He is survived by daughters Karen Azbill of Lincoln Ne, Sharon (Kenneth) Cook of Paoloa Ks, Margaret Kunzler of Kansas City Mo, Mary (Gerald) Smith of Sedalia Mo; sons Peter (Jeannie) Anson of Sedalia Mo, Timothy Anson of Lincoln Ne, Mark (Dana) Anson of Kansas City Ks, Matthew (Kelly) Anson of Independence Mo (memorial# 49559409); 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister Ruby (Harry) Schulz of Lincoln Ne; brothers Robert C.
