Rites Nov. 25

Viola Faye Weaklend 92, of Woodburn, died at the Chariton Manor Nursing Home Thursday, November 22. Services were held Sunday, November 25 from the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Silas Andersen of Lucas officiating at the 2 p.m. rites. Interment was in Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Clarke county.

Viola Faye Weaklend was born August 19, 1892 in Lucas County, Iowa daughter of Joseph Reese and Lillie Lott Reese. She attended schools in Clarke County and on February 22, 1911 was married to Earnest Raymond Weaklend in Woodburn.

During the years she lived in Woodburn she served as news reporter for the community with her items appearing in the Oscela newspapers. She was a member of the Woodburn Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Coleen Heston and husband, Howard of Lucas; and son-in-law, Kenneth Paugh of Allerton; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a sister, Evadna Smith of North Hollywood, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earnest; son, Wilbert; two daughters, Lillie Marie and Aldena, a grandson, Larry Boston, and a granddaughter, Lillie Belle Boston.
