~0bit~Funeral services for Fred Floyd, 77, Independence, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 1 at the Assembly of God church in Independence. The Rev. Roland Caliahan officiated and burial was in the Troy Mills cemetery. Mr. Floyd died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 28 at the home of his daughter in Independence. He was born October 17, 1886 near Center Point, the son of Jacob and Jeanette Saxton Floyd. Fred married Minnie Buckingham April 3, 1913 at Marion, Iowa. They farmed near Troy Mills many years. They moved to an acreage near Independence 27 years ago. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. William (Dorothy) McCoy, Independence; twin grandchildren, Wayne and Wanda McCoy, Independence. Also surviving are five brothers, Dale Floyd, Quasqueton; Clark Floyd and Sherman Floyd, Troy Mills; Ben Floyd of Walker and Earl Floyd of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Harry (Sadie) Price and Mrs. Clyde (Ivah) Chesmore, Center Point; Mrs. Mary Johnson, Arlington and Mrs. Ralph (Orlena) Raue, Rowley. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers in infancy. The Hawe Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Ralph Fest, Kenneth Price, Jack Raue, Frank Maser, Ralph Raue and Lee Walton.
