"Mrs. M. Jane Gate Dies At Home of Son In Alexandria" Mrs. Mahuldah Jane Gates, age 65 years, widely known and related
throughout Winn Parish, died at the home of her son, J. W. Gates, 1714 Yale Street, Alexandria, at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, October 7. Mrs. Gates is survived by three sons, J. W. Gates, Alexandria; H. V. and S. H. Gates, Houston, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Howard French, Dodson; four sisters, Mrs. P. Branch, Montgomery, La.; Mrs. Z. Z. Pepper, Mrs. J.Smith and Mrs. J. H. Simmons, Sikes, La., and six grandchildren. Services were held from her son's residence in Alexandria, at 10 a. m. Friday, October 8, with the Rev. E. E. Colvin, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made in Friendship cemetery."
