PERRY - Brian Lee Bowen, 50, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, after battling cancer for over 4 years. Family and friends will celebrate his life with a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010, at Perry United Methodist Church. Reverend Jenny Jackson-Adams and Reverend Billy Kimbrell will officiate. Interment will be at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Pinehurst immediately following the service.

Mr. Bowen was born in Bibb County to the late Olin and Mary Ann DeLoach Bowen and grew up in Dooly County. He graduated from Fullington Academy, attended Oxford College at Emory University, and earned his B. B. A. from Emory University. He was a long-time member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pinehurst. Mr. Bowen moved to Perry in 1992, was a Certified Public Accountant, and worked in private practice for several years. He later became the President of ICG, International Communications Group, and President and CEO of Uzdonrobita, an international cellular company which was the first American-Uzbekistan joint venture corporation in Uzbekistan. He was previously the managing partner and owner of New Perry Hotel. Mr. Bowen loved his church and was a faithful and active member of Perry United Methodist Church and the Mission Outreach Sunday School Class. He was currently serving as the Chairman of the Missions Committee, and had previously served on the Administrative Board. An active member of the Perry Community, Mr. Bowen was a past president and current member of the Perry Rotary Club, and was a past recipient of the Perry Chamber of Commerce's Seabie Hickson Award, recognizing his outstanding community service. He also served as a member of Perry City Council. Having been a parent volunteer for many years, and serving as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Westfield School since 2004, he provided valuable insight and advice to the school in many areas, specifically in Finance and Strategic Planning. He was currently serving as Secretary of the Board of Trustees. In 2009, he received The Spirit of Westfield Award, an honor bestowed only to those whose loyalty and supportive enthusiasm of the school is truly evident on a daily basis. Brian will be remembered as a man of great faith, a loving and devoted husband and father, and a true friend to all.

Left to treasure the memories of Brian are his loving wife of over 23 years, Kellie Cloud Bowen, and daughter, Mallory Bowen, both of Perry; sister, Elaine Bowen Caraway, and niece, Marah Hutcheson Gregory (Josh), both of Pinehurst; uncles, Gene DeLoach (Faye) and Johnny Paul DeLoach (Ann) of Unadilla, and Tony DeLoach (Kris) of Perry; parents-in-law, Ken and Joyce Cloud, and brother-in-law, Matt Cloud, all of Warner Robins; nephew, James Cloud of Virginia; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
