He was born October 11, 1925, in Baring, MO, the son of Wilber and Opal (Hustead) McFarland.
On May 29, 1956, he married Bonise Siler in Burlington, IA.
He graduated from Memphis High School, Memphis, MO.
Mr. McFarland served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a self-employed salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Bonise; children and spouses, Rhonda and David Crookshanks of Blue Grass, IA, Denise and Lonnie Boyles, and Steven McFarland, all of Davenport, IA; three grandchildren, Laura, Emily, and Jordan; a brother, Charles McFarland of Baring, MO; and a sister, Nadine Hardy of Iowa City, IA.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua; a brother in infancy; and his parents.
Private graveside services will be held at National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. The Runge Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
