Mrs. Hazel Sydnor Saxon of Maryland, formerly of Halifax, died in Maryland at the age of 96. Mrs. Saxon was born in Halifax County on March 17, 1913, to the late Mr. Willie Sydnor and Mrs. Fannie Miller Sydnor and was married to the late Mr. Moody Saxon.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Saxon Clipper of Frederick, MD and Ms. Yolanda Surles of South Carolina; two sons, Mr. Monroe Saxon of Lansdale, PA and Mr. Osborne Sinclair of New York; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hester Jones of Washington, DC and Learlean Hemphill of Temple Hill, MD; one sister-in-law, Ms. Louise Sydnor of Halifax; one brother-in-law, Mr. Garfield Walton of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Saxon was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. Stevie Lovelace and Mr. Stanley Sinclair Jr.; five sisters; and eight brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. at Millstone Baptist Church with Rev. John Price officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday.
