HOULKA - Billy Gordon Aron, 75, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Aug. 2, 1932, the son of William Earl and Christine Gordon Aron.

He was a lifelong Chickasaw County resident, a graduate of Houlka High School and Mississippi State University, a farmer and cattleman, a member of the Houlka Lions Club, a BancorpSouth community director, a retired director of First South Farm Credit and served on the Skuna River Commission and was a member of Houlka United Methodist Church.

Services will begin at 5 p.m. today at Houlka United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Keen and the Rev. Darrell Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Melba Tedford Aron; daughter, Betsy Aron Collums (Jimmy Wayne) of Houlka; sons, Billy Gordon Aron Jr. (Debra) of Houlka, Michael Earl Aron of Houlka; and grandchildren, John Aron Collums, Nancy Christine Collums and Anna Elizabeth Collums.

Pallbearers will be Charles Washington, Ronald Washington, Van Belk, Jason Aron, Dr. Jim Aron and Sammy Barlow.
