Mrs. Christine Gordon Aron
Mrs. Christine Gordon Aron, 68, of Rt 1 Houlka died at her home Saturday, May 3. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 4 at the Houlka United Methodist Church with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Cornelius officiated.
An outstanding church and community leader, Mrs. Aron was a member of Houlka United Methodist Church, the Houlka New Century Club and a charter member of the Houlka Chapter of Friends of the Library. She had been actively working on the Houlka Homecoming Committee at the time of her death.
She was a member of the Houlka Library Board and an active participant in all charity drives conducted in the town of Houlka.
A lifelong resident of Chickasaw County, she was the daughter of Alexander Hayward Gordon and Sarah Iola Cummings Gordon. She was the wife of former Chickasaw County Supervisor Earl Aron who preceded her in death in 1966.
Survivors include one son, Billy Gordon Aron of Houlka; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Lancaster of Houston and three grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Hugh Meek, R A Easley, Jimmy Hood, James K Bishop, Ray Houston and George Cole.
Houlka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
