Annie Laurie Lipscomb is the daughter of James Andrew Smith Lipscomb (1855-1924) and Dora Amanda Callas (1873-1938). She married Troy Phillip Chapman, Sr. (1907-1954) on 9 Aug 1925 in Oconee County, South Carolina.

OBITUARY:
ANNIE L. CHAPMAN November 10, 1906 - May 9, 2008 ANDERSON - Mrs. Annie Laurie Lipscomb Chapman, age 101, formerly of 117 E. Mauldin Street, wife of the late Troy Phillip Chapman, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at the home of her daughter, Linda C. Brooks. Born in Walhalla, SC, on November 10, 1906, she was a daughter of the late James Andrew Smith Lipscomb and Dora Amanda Callas Lipscomb. She was a published poet and a designer and seamstress of custom drapes from 1955 until 1990. Mrs. Chapman was a charter member and the oldest member of Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson. Affectionately known as "Mama Chap," she was loved and cherished by countless numbers of friends. Survivors include her two sons, John G. "Jack" Chapman and his wife Deverle of Cumming, GA, and Ben H. Chapman and his wife Ermeda of Smithville, TN; two daughters, Troyce Anne Ashley and her husband Wallace of Honea Path, and Linda C. Brooks and her husband Rev. Dr. Mitch Brooks of Anderson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alison Darby and her husband Steve, Chip Ashley and his wife Michelle, Steven Chapman, Chuck Brooks and his wife Carol, Hayley Atkins and her husband Brad, Sloan Chapman and his wife, Ashleigh, and Jeannie Shrum and her husband Jonathan, and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Troy Phillip Chapman, Jr., and Wilbur Andrew Chapman; a brother Luther Lipscomb; four sisters, Agnes Lipscomb, Janie L. Williams, Drucilla Lipscomb, and Myrtle Kerr and one granndson, Justin T. Chapman. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Boulevard Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Dr. Johnny McKinney. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of her daugher, Linda C. Brooks, 1118 Lakeside Drive, Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp, 205 Serenity Place, Smithville, TN 37166 or to the charity of one's choice.
