George graduated from the University of Nebraska. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was the production manager for the European Stars and Stripes for 33 years and lived in Germany. After retiring, he and his wife Gisele relocated to DeLand, Florida. He was a member of AARP, the American Legion and the International Typographical Union.
At the time of death he was survived by his wife Gisele; a son, George of New Jersey; a daughter, Liliane Hicks of Atlanta; and a grandson.
