SAN ANTONIO, Fla. - Russell K. Babb, 81, of San Antonio, Fla., and formerly of Rockford, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, in his home after a lengthy illness. Born April 10, 1922, in Covington, Ind. Son of Winfield and Grace Babb. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a Tech Sergeant with the Army's 151 Infantry in the Pacific. Survivors include his son, Terry (Linda) Babb of San Antonio, Fla. two grandsons, Jason Babb of Phoenix, Ariz., and Nathaniel Babb of San Antonio brother, Malcom "Mick" (Dot) Babb of Rockford sister, Margaret "Jane" Johnson of Machesney Park brothers-in-law, Cloyce Sharp of Rockford and Jack Pihl of Jacksonville, Fla. and he loved and was loved by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents five sisters, Phyllis, Marjorie, Dorothy, Janet, and Donna as well as his brother, Forrest who was killed in action on June 22, 1944, in St. Lo, France. Memorial services at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. In Russell's memory, donations may be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 5804 Mission Square, Zephyrhills, Fla., 33541. Oakley Funeral Home and Crematory, 11441 Highway 301, Dade City, Fla. 33525.
