Judge Bierer was believed to be the oldest attorney from point of service in Oklahoma. He came to Guthrie on April 22, 1889 and together with the late Judge John H Coltrel set up his office in a tent. The home he built on the lot he took in the opening remained his home until his death.

A native of Uniontown PA, Judge Bierer grew up in Hiawatha KS. He graduated from Georgetown University with the degree of Master of Laws and practiced in Hiawatha and later Garden City KS. He was city attorney at Garden City and a member of the firm of Brown, Bierer and Cotteral. In 1888 he married Nanny Stamper. From 1894 to 1896 he served as justice of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma Territory. Later he was associated in business with the late Judge Frank Dale. The present firm of Bierer and Bierer was formed in 1925 when his son, A G C Bierer Jr, was admitted to the bar.

Judge Bierer was a member of the American Bar Assn, Oklahoma and Logan County (Bar) Associations, and served as early day attorney of Guthrie. He was a member of the board of Freeholders who adopted the original city charter. For many years he has been included in each issue of Who's Who and several years ago was made a member of the Oklahoma Historical Society Hall of Fame. Judge Bierer served as chairman of the highway committee of the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce for many years and was active in initiating a good roads movement and the establishment of SH 33. During WWI he was chairman of the Logan county council of defense. Judge Bierer was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Albert Pike Masonic Lodge, the Oklahoma Scottish Rites Consistory and Shrine.

He is survived by a son, A G C Jr; one daughter, Mrs Horace Taylor, New York City; and two grandsons, A G C III and Alva McDonald Bierer.
