Burial services for PFC John T. Owens, 36 infantryman who was killed in action October 16, 1944, in Germany will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Arlington Cemetery.
His mother, Mrs. Mary Owens, 316 Sherman Avenue and her nephew and niece Mr. and Mrs. Claude Marshall, Washington, D.C. will attend the rites.
Private Owens entered the armed forces on March 18, 1943 and went overseas in May, 1944. He served with the infantry, the infantry, the Forty-Eighth Lightening Division, Company F and held various medals for marksmanship. He served in England, France and Germany.
CAME TO HAMITON
He was born August 4, 1907 in Troy N.Y., the son of James and Mary Owens. At the age of 11 months, he came to Hamilton with his parents and attended the St. Mary parochial school, the Hamilton Catholic High School and night classes at a business college.
Before entering service, Private Owens worked at the Columbia Tool and Machine Company. He was a faithful attendant at the St. Mary Catholic church and had many friends.
His father, James T. Owens was killed September 5, 1943 when struck by a car on Millville Avenue.
Other survivors, besides his mother include: three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lentz, Fort Mitchell, Ky, Sister Thomas Mary, Springfield, O., Sister Mary Antonine, Nashville, Tenn.; four brothers, Frank Owens, Cincinnati, James, Robert and Tommie, all of Hamilton.
