PIONEER WOMAN DIES AT GREELEY

Mrs. Martha Arbuckle, Pioneer of Elk Township, Passes Away at Her Home at Age of 87 Years.

Mrs. Martha Arbuckle, an aged and respected citizen of Greeley, passed away at her home on Saturday afternoon, July 10, 1926. Mrs. Arbuckle celebrated her 87th birthday on April 10th last. Her husband died about twenty-six years ago. Funeral services were held from the Christian church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Mr. King officiating. Mrs. Arbuckle had been an active member of that church for many years, remaining so until the infirmity of age prevented her from attending its services. Her last illness was of only three weeks’ duration. She is survived by the following children: Ella of Nemaha, Neb., John of Waterloo, Rachel Waters [Watters] of Greeley, Arthur of Dubuque, Eliza Barker of Strawberry Point, Charles of Batavia, Ill., Mamie Hook of Dubuque, and Nettie Raymer of Fond du Lac, Wis. She also leaves two brothers and one sister to mourn her departure. Mrs. Arbuckle had many fine traits of character which the early residents of this vicinity will well remember. Friends in this village, so long her home, extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing children.
